- Remarks
- Standing proud since its 1906 opening, Barbetta proves that the "new" in New York need not be taken literally. From its gilded furnishings to its candelabra and crystal chandeliers, this dining room celebrates an old-world aesthetic. At the ornate tables, find true-blue New Yorkers who, as regulars, have been treated like family here for more than century (though outsiders may detect a hint of indifference from the service staff). Consistency is the theme here, and some of the menu items, such as minestrone giardiniera, have been served since the very beginning. Good, traditional Italian food with a few throwbacks-capped off by a selection from the dessert trolley-prove that this just might be your grandfather's favorite Italian restaurant.
