- Remarks
- Mexican dining is at its hottest in New York, with many thanks to the unstoppable team behind the uniquely authentic Toloache, Yerba Buena, and their other rapidly expanding outposts. Here in midtown, this two-story restaurant is decked in Talavera tiles, wood-beam ceilings, and stunning copper and tin lanterns. A pleasure from start to finish, try the outrageously good house specialty, the chapulines taco, filled with Oaxacan-style dried grasshoppers. Tamer tastes can chose from an array of brick oven-fired quesadillas or ceviches, perhaps followed by flan with coffee-caramel sauce and fresh berry pico de gallo. A serious list of divine margaritas and over 100 tequilas is on offer—all worthy bar mates to more than a dozen varieties of mescal.
