There is a palpable warmth upon entering this third-floor Time Warner respite. The space is comfortably chic and always busy, but no matter, the hosts and servers never waver as guests continue to pile in. Dark mosaic tiles, natural light, and metals create a visual balance that is at once very contemporary and very Italian. Ask for a window table, but know that every seat will share a stunning view of this prime position over Columbus Circle. As grand as the vista may be, remember to also glance at neighboring tables, dominated by Europeans, area residents, and media powerhouses (their deep discussions are well-articulated and worthy of a little eavesdropping). On the menu, Chef Missy Robbins' talent and passion shine through a mix of fashionably rustic dishes with swirls of true Italian modernity. Pastas might include springy house-made linguine nestled around a rich shellfish sugo with spicy heat and garlicky breadcrumbs. Expect entrées such as pearly white hake poached in olive oil, with earthy white beans, tomato conserva, and black pepper vinaigrette. Prix-fixe menus are only available at lunch, though a luscious panna cotta crested with grapefruit segments is offered all day.
