The inspector's view
Wine is king at Bounty Hunter, which provides a friendly introduction to the best of the local vineyards with more than 40 wines by the glass (or two-ounce taste) and 400 more by the bottle. No matter what is in the glass, most come here for the spicy, slow-smoked ribs, brisket, and barbecue from the house smoker, fueled by hickory, applewood, and cabernet barrel staves. Highlights include the "Reubenesque," piling thin slices of pastrami with sauerkraut, Russian dressing, and melting Gruyère on fresh marble rye. The acclaimed beer-can chicken is available at lunch and dinner—a good thing, since you may want it at both meals. Wine pairings are offered with each dish, and the kitchen is open until midnight on weekends to soak up any tasting-room sins.
