The exquisite Little Pepper housed in College Point boasts a delicate and faithful rendition of Sichuan cooking. Add that to the fresh and clean interior dressed-up marble tiled floors, immaculate white walls adorned with "frescoes" created by the owner's son, and a small service bar, and it is no wonder that this is such a big hit. But the focus here is surely on their sublime, honest cuisine, which thankfully has not changed. Some irresistible faves include fresh cucumber with mashed garlic sauce; thinly sliced, blanched ox "organs" tossed in an intensely flavorful chili oil; and glass noodles in a heavenly pool of stir-fried pork, scallions, and Sichuan peppercorns. Need some crispy treats? The deep-fried whole fish topped with pickles is bliss.
