We had lunch at 1230 on a Saturday and were about the first to arrive. the staff are very friendly and welcoming and the decor is simple and slightly quirky but very effective. The menu offered good choice for us and the smoked haddock risotto was excellent. For mains, both the chilli beef pie and the open burger were homemade, fresh and very tasty, with a good selection of fresh salad, vegetables and potatoes. all of the desserts looked delicious and the price was very reasonable considering the excellent quality. A very good dining experience - we'll be back!!

A small point on behalf of a friend, but we felt the vegetarian choices may have been slightly limited (but as we are meat eaters please take this comment very lightly) - otherwise no other points!

An excellent greeting on the way in always makes you feel welcome especially on your first visit! Ordered the scallops (with carrot and vanilla puree) and then the pork main course - both exquisite and a lovely 'pie' surprise with the pork chop main! Five English cheeses and a chocolate brownie dessert (which again were absolutely superb) before the amazing home-made biscuits with tea and coffee, really finished off the meal in style. All staff were lovely and we will certainly be visiting again for another meal and also to collect some of the home-made biscuits to take home with us!
