- This old bank continues to service its community, but now as a restaurant honoring the foods of America's Midwest. Look for the doorman to find the portal that "deposits" you down the slate stairwell and into the glamorous Bedford. The bar and dining room turns back the clock with vaults, safe deposits, and Americana pictures. If scenes from family road trips come to mind, you're on track. Either way, it is idyllic for a romantic tryst. Peruse the nibbles as you nestle: Grandma Ann's deviled eggs with hot sauce are a perfect intro for a roasted beet salad with candied fennel and pumpernickel. Pan-seared strip steak paired a potato purée and knob onions; or a chocolate-strawberry pie filled with fresh berries will hook any cool Chicagoan.
