The inspector's view

Set on the stretch of Fulton Market that boasts more food obsessives per capita than any quarter in Chicago, iNG showcases Chef Homaru Cantu's addictively quirky cuisine. This casual spin-off of his modernist Moto next door struts an always-inventive prix-fixe menu that gets a new theme every six weeks. Whether an ode to Asian street food or '70s hard rock music, the menu—printed on a backstage pass—surprises and intrigues at every step. Deep Purple poutine boasts roast purple potatoes, cheddar, and short rib cubes with music notes drawn in white gravy; while oysters fried in corn chips and dusted in mignonette powder for a Blue Oyster Cult dish pair playfully with a chorizo-infused Bloody Mary. It sounds too crazy to work, but food nerds love it.
