- Some things never change (phew!) and Liebman's is definitely one of those things. This iconic kosher deli has been stuffing sandwiches and ladling bowls of matzoh ball soup for over 50 years. Residents wax poetic about the place, but it's nothing special, just a true-blue deli. Walk in and it's like a Smithsonian set for a Jewish deli—a neon sign in the front window, the grill roasting hot dogs, and meat slicing machines. The food is classic and soulful as in stuffed veal breast, potato latkes, pastrami and tongue sandwiches on nutty rye bread paired with tangy pickles...and even that old standby—noodle pudding. Order to-go, or take a load off and grab a seat at one of the booths. Just don't forget about that bowl of "cure-all" matzoh ball soup.
