With its old-fashioned tiled floors, bistro tables, and pressed-tin ceiling, this offshoot of the original Enzo's might look like your average red-sauce joint, but Enzo's takes comfort cooking to a new level. Yes, it's informal with casually dressed Fordham students here for everyone's favorite cavatelli with broccoli rabe and spicy sausage, but others come from afar, to shop and sate themselves on some of the city's better clams oreganata. Owner Enzo DiRende (whose father co-founded legendary Dominick's) improves every standby with his devotion to sourcing from local vendors—a smart thing when your 'hood is teeming with killer Italian markets. Fresh, crusty ciabatta, delish cured meats, and the vanilla-scented cheesecake are all made around the corner.
