Excellent food with a surprisingly wide choice for a quiet winter evening. Strikes a happy balance between pub-with-food and restaurant. Plenty of space but worth booking as the staff looked like they might struggle if unexpectedly swamped with guests. Basic pub dishes with some great specials, all to a very high standard. Worth a large detour. Wizard real ale a bonus.
Could do with being a little more formal with dinner service to match the food quality. My lamb special with parsley mash was good but missing the advertised green beans and the mash was a little over-seasoned.
