Asian Pearl is lauded for its dim sum, but the dinner menu of mostly Cantonese-style dishes is really where the restaurant shines. The large banquet style tables are perfect for groups, while smaller rooms can be portioned off for private parties. The staff is curt, but the food is worth it. A back wall lined with tanks full of crustaceans, fish, and mollusks will get your appetite going. Start with a superbly crisp and crackly-skinned duck that was brined before roasting; then a clay pot filled with tender slices of braised beef in a thick soy- and oyster-sauce—enoki mushrooms are tossed in tableside as if to further tease your taste buds. Can't move? Tender pieces of pumpkin and taro root simmered in creamy coconut milk are also served over the burner.
