Sura brings a dose of heat to the spice-challenged Upper West Side. The interior is unexpectedly upmarket with a smoky slate grey palette and shimmering accents. In contrast, white marble-topped tables line the slender setting and the neat culinary presentations enhance the stylish air. Sura's outstanding preparations indicate that this kitchen is much more serious about its representation of Thai cuisine that many of its ilk. Indulge in standouts such as fresh and flavorful duck larb; or blue crab-studded fried sticky rice with egg and scallion. The khao soi -slender egg noodles bathed in a house-crafted rich and aromatic coconut curry topped with a peak of crunchy fried noodles and pickled mustard leaves-is a technically superb specialty.
