A writer, Alessandro Manzoni (1785-1873) wrote The Fiancés, a "grand epic about the humble", thus renewing the genre of the historical novel. For 60 years he lived in this opulent-looking home that contains his library, his office, a variety of items that refer to his life and his work, and the original furniture of the room in which he died.
