This new National Museum area, set up within the Baths of Diocletian, is dedicated to sculpture and archaeological remains. Inscriptions, coins, glassware, earthenware, funerary furniture present Roman civilisation during the Republican era. The most interesting element for non-archaeologists is the Great Cloister (sometimes attributed to Michelangelo), a green enclosure organised into a lapidary depot.
