Founded in 1752, the Royal Academy has a rich collection of European art. Spanish art from the Golden Century is widely represented here (Ribera, Murillo, Alonso Cano and Velasquez), but there are also pictures from the 18C by Mengs, Tiepolo and Bayeu. But it isGoya who takes the lion's share with his Self-portrait in front of the Easel and a series of pictures of rooms. Among the foreign painters, the very rare Arcimboldo, king of anamorphosis, is there with Spring.
