This large space left by the demolition of the ramparts (1854) is the mark of the union between the old town and Eixample. It was developed in 1927 par F. de P. Nebot and is home to many interesting sculptures by Llimona and Gargallo, and accomodates a replica of the Josep Clarà's Deesa, a masterpiece of Noucentisme (a idea in response to modernism which has political and cultural intentions, seeking a return to classical and Mediterranean sources).
