- Alexanderplatz D - 10178 Berlin
The square owes its name to the visit of Tsar Alexander in 1805 and used to mark the border between the official Berlin and the shady world of the working-class areas. An important communication link and massive shopping centre, it has been, since the socialist era, the centre of the Eastern part of Berlin. Its symbol is /bUrania/b, the universal clock which shows the time zones of the great cities of the World. Street musicians and cartoonists perform here and there is a varied fauna.
