Old City: Celetna Street Interesting

Address
Celetná Ulice, Staré Mesto CZ - Praha 1
Remarks
To the east, the Gothic Powder Tower, which was started in 1475 and finished with complete respect for the original style by Mocker at the end of the 19C. The Tower gives wonderful views over the rooftops of Prague from its gallery. Then there is the Municipal Building which shows the great range of artistic achievement in the city at the beginning of the 20C. The Street ends to the west, not far from Our Lady of Tyn, between the Storch House (late 19C) and The Golden Unicorn (15C, with Baroque redecoration). Inbetween, the Baroque facades give a theatrical feel to the place with its passages and porches leading to all sorts of surprises. On the way, the House of the Black Madonna, with its ochre facade, was built by Josef Gocar in 1912 and houses the Czech Cubist Museum (paintings, drawings, furniture).
