Remarks
The Dom- und Diözesanmuseum was founded in 1933 in the Palace of the Abbots of Zwettli. With its extensive painting and sculpture collections, including fine Renaissance works such as Cranach the Elder's Ecce Homo (1537), it makes a perfect end to the cathedral visit. The cathedral treasury contains rare works such as the Portrait of Duke Rudolf IV, one of the very first examples of western art (1365), two Syrian vases and a magnificent Passion altar piece (circa 1460).
