Plus d'information
Henry Ford uprooted more than 75 historic structures from all over the country and plopped them down in his idealized village in an effort to preserve the way of life that, ironically, disappeared with the birth of Ford's Model T. Among the buildings designed to illustrate the work of famous people are Ford's own humble birthplace; the Wright Brothers' home and one of their four bicycle shops from Dayton, Ohio, in which they performed experiments leading to the first successful airplane flight; Thomas Edison's Menlo Park laboratory, where nearly 400 inventions originated in New Jersey; and the 1823 house where Noah Webster wrote the American Dictionary of the English Language. Don't miss the daily demonstrations by tinsmiths, glassblowers, potters, printers and weavers. Children will especially enjoy a ride on the 3mi standard-gauge Greenfield Village Rail Road that chugs around the perimeter of the village.
