Remarks
Pierre Durand, pastor of the churches of the Désert, was borne here. His sister, Marie Durand, was imprisoned for 38 years in the Tower of Constance d'Aigues-Mortes and is said to have scrawled the famous word «RÉSISTER» which, three centuries later, led to the name of the Resistance during the Nazi occupation. Every Pentecostal Monday, Protestants gather in this house to remember the struggle against religious intolerance.
