| If you're looking for carefree travelling and the peace of mind obtained using satellite-assisted navigation systems, you can choose between two solutions, or we could say two philosophies. Either a navigation system fitted into your dashboard - a fair number of new vehicles are now equipped or you can have the system installed by a specialised retailer. Or else choose the PDA solution for lightness and versatility. | | | © ViaMichelin MapSonic, navigation software which transforms your PDA into a proper navigation system.
 | MapSonic navigation software with voice guiding represents the ideal alternative to transform your PDA or even your laptop into a navigation system. It operates on PCs, Pocket PCs and soon on Palm Os. Covering all Europe (i.e. 100 000 towns), MapSonic map software features improved itinerary calculation and voice guiding.
On your PC, select and combine the maps, at the required zoom level, you need for your journey and then transfer them to your PDA. This unique and highly fluid mapping solution also uses considerably less memory - the map of the major highways of a country with detailed plans of the forty largest towns occupies approximately 40 megabytes.
It is then child's play to connect your PDA to an onboard navigation kit comprising a GPS receptor, a mounting bracket and the various supply and connection cables. You won't spend more then 30 to 40 minutes fitting the system the very first time. This flexibility allows you to take this light equipment everywhere with you, in the UK and abroad. Enjoy using it in a rented car, in a friend's car or even on foot. And the same PDA of course allows you to do many other things. | | | | © ViaMichelin In your vehicle, MapSonic is a powerful and rapid route calculator.
 | In your vehicle, MapSonic is a powerful and rapid route calculator. If, for one reason or another, you leave the scheduled route, the automatic repositioning feature presents you with a new route, MapSonic having previously calculated all the possible routes to the place of arrival. The simple and efficient voice guiding (available in eight languages) works perfectly well. The road sheet displays conventional information such as remaining distance, transit time, or the name of the next road to be taken, allowing you to check visually that you are on the right road. MapSonic is also a highly intuitive street name search engine and a database with a wealth of points of interest (post offices, petrol stations, airports, etc.), to which you can add your own points of interest.
From the business trip to family holidays, a PDA fitted with the MapSonic navigation system with voice guiding is an ideal travel companion which adapts to all situations and for an extremely reasonable price. | | | |
