Via XX Settembre
V. XX Settembre I - 00187 Roma
The following event took place on the 20th of September 1870 : Italian troops entered Rome through a breach in the wall, next to the Porta Pia and seized the city. From then on, this thoroughfare was developed by constructing pompous buildings, in a mixture of proto-Renaissance and crypto-Baroque styles, which were supposed to express the regime's greatness and house the ministries of the new, at last, reunified State.
